Independent since 1967

Student stories.
Real experience.
A stronger campus.

The Almagest is LSU Shreveport’s student newsroom — built to inform our community and help the next generation of journalists learn by doing.

Our mission

News that keeps the Pilot community connected.

Since its inception in 1967, The Almagest has served as LSU Shreveport’s student publication. We involve students in the creation and delivery of timely, organized and objective reporting about campus and the Shreveport community.

Every edition is also a working newsroom: a place to report, photograph, edit, design, publish and learn how responsible journalism earns trust.
